Curtain Number ?

"All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go..." wait, wait...wrong theme song for this post; we are not packed in the slightest bit.  But, we are getting ready to go.  One car has been stored, the other sold.  The house rented.  But no matter how many boxes we pack the house won't empty.  I feel like Big Anthony in the story Strega Nona.  Big Anthony helps Strega Nona out, but always seems to get himself into big messes.  This time, Big Anthony has gotten into Strega Nona's magic pasta pot - the pot will continue to make pasta until the spell is said to stop it.  Big Anthony doesn't know this spell, and the pasta ends up spilling out of Strega Nona's house, and floods the town.  My house has never ending STUFF that no matter how much I pack, there is always MORE.  I am swimming in a flood of stuff.

Besides the endless packing, we are in the midst of preparing to leave Vail.  We are visiting our favorite food haunts...we went to Fiesta's for Brett, I went to the Montauk and next week I'll take the boys to the Bookworm for lunch.  Maybe the theme song for this post should be "Eat it."

In between the packing and organizing our finances, final doctor visits, visiting our favorite restaurants and squeezing in family and friend time, there are moments when I can breathe and think about what is ahead for us.  I know that there will be days that I question our decision to leave.  Not every day will be a European fantasy.  But I do know that not going wasn't an option if we could make it there.  I've never been a huge risk taker.  I don't go into things wildly.  I take calculated risks that push me out of my comfort zone because I know I will come out a richer person.  My family will too.  We walk into the vast unknown with excitement and anticipation.  A few days ago, I walked into the family room and Henry was watching “Let’s Make a Deal!”  Wayne Brady now hosts it, but the show has essentially not changed.  I don’t think this post has a theme song, no…I think it has a game show theme.  “Wayne, I think I will take what is behind the curtain with the big question mark!”
